Alnoor Maherali
CEO & Mediator
Alnoor Maherali is a founder of Venn Mediation, a mediator, a practicing ombuds professional, and a former diplomat. He is a SIMI-accredited mediator and also mediates with the New York Peace Institute.
His foreign-service career took him to Afghanistan and Bangladesh, where he worked on conflict resolution, human rights, and disaster response, and to the United Nations in Geneva and New York, where he negotiated multilateral resolutions. His diplomatic work included roles in resolving two high-profile kidnapping cases in Afghanistan.
Alnoor holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Queen's University and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, with advanced training in multiparty negotiation and conflict resolution. Having traveled to nearly fifty countries, he is particularly at home navigating cultural, ethnic, and racial differences at the table.
He describes mediation as a safe, collaborative process that enables people to resolve their conflicts amicably, and considers the parties' own judgment the most important resource in the room.
